PEACE TODAY, A PEACE NEWS NETWORK
In an era where conflicts, misinformation, and polarization dominate the media landscape—and where international news is often driven by sensationalism—there is a growing need for a dedicated news platform that prioritizes peace, peacebuilding, and social cohesion. From conflict zones, we frequently hear stories of killings, bombings, and the perspectives of violent extremists. In post-conflict contexts, the focus is often on misery, hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.
This type of coverage, whether intentional or not, tends to overlook and undervalue ongoing peacebuilding efforts such as social cohesion, reconciliation, and resilience. It can also inflame tensions, perpetuate negative stereotypes, fuel distrust and violence, and discourage frontline peacebuilders across the globe.
Peace Today seeks to fill this gap by providing high-quality, solution-oriented journalism focused on conflict transformation, social cohesion, reconciliation, resilience, and positive social change across communities.
Peace Today was launched in May 2025 as a non-partisan, independent news platform that promotes Peace, Peacebuilding, and Social Cohesion through Journalism. Based in Kigali, Rwanda, we work with correspondents and contributors from around the world.
Our mission is to promote peace, social cohesion, and conflict transformation by providing high-quality, solution-oriented journalism that amplifies the voices of people, communities and peacebuilders, counters misinformation, and fosters constructive dialogue.
