Two bilateral framework agreements signed between Rwanda, DRC and US as part of Washington Peace Accord

As part of the Washington Accords for Peace and Prosperity signed on Thursday, December 4, between Presidents of Rwanda, DR Congo and USA, two bilateral economic agreements were also signed by the respective foreign ministers.
Those are the Regional Economic Integration Framework (REIF between Rwanda and DRC and the Framework Between the U.S and Rwanda for Shared Economic Prosperity.

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivier Nduhungirehe explained that Regional Economic Integration Framework Agreement (REIF), aims to create economic opportunities for DRC and Rwanda to make joint investments in five priority areas of cooperation, namely energy, infrastructure, mineral supply chains, national park management and tourism, as well as public health.
As for the bilateral framework on shared economic prosperity signed between USA and Rwanda, it provides a platform for the two countries to engage on mining and mineral processing, energy, and broader trade and investment promotion, outside the scope of the REIF.
