US Central Command said its latest strikes hit Iranian military command centres, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites and air defense systems. It said commercial vessels continued to pass through the strategic waterway, a key route for global oil shipments.

The attacks followed President Donald Trump’s vow to punish Iran after the deaths of three US soldiers — two in Jordan and one in Iraq.

Trump had said Iran was hit “very hard” the previous night “in honour” of the three soldiers.

Iran said it responded by striking two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as US military assets in Bahrain and Kuwait, according to state news agency IRNA.

President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran was now fighting a “full-scale war” with the United States, underscoring the sharp escalation between the two countries despite continued efforts to keep diplomatic channels open.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also claimed it had attacked infrastructure belonging to US company Amazon in Bahrain.

The IRGC “attacked and destroyed the central data infrastructure of the American company Amazon in Bahrain with several cruise missiles,” IRNA reported Tuesday.

The claim could not be independently verified.

Despite the collapse of a ceasefire, Tehran said diplomatic messages were still being exchanged between the two sides through intermediaries, suggesting that back-channel efforts to contain the conflict remained active.
