The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the operations were specifically designed to further "degrade the capabilities of Iranian forces."

Alongside the airstrikes, US forces intercepted and seized maritime vessels in an effort to block transport operations traveling to or from Iran through the Hormuz waterway.

Tehran, however, condemned the operations, asserting that the American strikes targeted non-military infrastructure, including bridges, railways, and an airport. 

Iran's state news agency, IRNA, reported that at least seven people were killed in the attacks.

According to reports, US missiles also landed near Qeshm Island—adjacent to the Strait of Hormuz—as well as in the cities of Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, the latter of which hosts a nuclear power plant.

CENTCOM countered these reports by specifying that its targets were strictly military positions. These included coastal surveillance stations, air defense systems, military logistics hubs, and naval capabilities.

In retaliation, Iran claimed to have launched strikes against US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain. This action followed Tehran's accusations that Washington targeted Iranshahr Airport, the Bandar Khamir railway, and five bridges in the port city.
