World leaders began arriving in the French resort town of Evian-les-Bains on Monday, June 15, for the Group of Seven (G7) summit.

The meeting gained new momentum after United States President Donald Trump announced an agreement to end the US war against Iran.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva arrived first at the Hotel Royal on Monday. French President Emmanuel Macron and European leaders Antonio Costa and Ursula von der Leyen followed shortly after.

President Trump joins the gathering on Monday afternoon for talks with G7 leaders. Some leaders criticize his management of the 15-week conflict. This war caused a sharp rise in global energy prices.

Trump faces disagreements with host Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The summit also focuses on the Ukraine war. This issue currently sits lower on the White House list of priorities. While Trump spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday, June 14.

The G7 includes France, the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
