Mozambique President Visits Rwanda Security Forces In Cabo Delgado
Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo visited the Rwanda Security Force (RSF) Headquarters in Mocímboa da Praia District on Thursday, July 2 to commend troops for their vital role in restoring peace to the volatile Cabo Delgado Province.
The visit by the Mozambican Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Mozambique Armed Defence Forces (FADM) was a key feature of his official tour of the region.
President Chapo arrived at the Mocímboa da Praia Airport following a visit to frontline FADM troops. He was received by the RSF Joint Task Force Commander, Brigadier General CM Mujuni, alongside an assembly of commanders and staff officers.
During an address to senior RSF officers, President Chapo expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government of Rwanda, particularly to the President of the Republic of Rwanda, for the unwavering support provided to Mozambique in combating terrorism in Cabo Delgado.
The Commander-in-Chief commended the Rwanda Security Force for its dedication, professionalism and commitment to protecting civilians and restoring security in the conflict-affected province.
President Chapo was accompanied by a high-level security delegation, including the Minister of National Defence, Major General Cristóvão Artur Chume, and the FADM Army Commander, Major General André Rafael Mahunguane.
The Chief of Staff of the Mozambican Navy, Brigadier General Óscar Agostinho Lucas, and several senior government officials also formed part of the visiting entourage.
Highlighting the critical importance of the ongoing partnership between the RSF and FADM, President Chapo appreciated strong cooperation between the two forces in the fight against terrorism and officially pledged continued collaboration.
