Donald Trump has stated that the man who launched an attack at the Washington Hilton Hotel—where the President was attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner—was a "sick" individual whose family had previously raised alarms.

The suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, was armed with firearms and knives at the time of the incident.

"He was a Christian, a believer, and then he turned anti-Christian; he changed significantly. He might be a sick person," Trump told CBS.

According to a police officer, Allen confessed that he intended to assassinate high-ranking officials in the Trump administration, targeting them from the highest levels down, with the exception of FBI Director Kash Patel.

Allen claimed he was attempting to protect those negatively impacted by Trump’s policies.

"Turning the other cheek while another is being oppressed is not Christian behavior; it is complicity," Allen stated.

Messages the suspect wrote to his family suggested that security at the Washington Hilton was insufficient and plagued by lack of care, noting that he was able to enter with multiple weapons without being seen as a threat.

Trump remarked that such incidents could be avoided if the new ballroom currently under construction at the White House were finished, calling for the construction work to be expedited.
