President Paul Kagame on Friday, June 12, has officiated at the graduation ceremony of the 14th intake of the Senior Command and Staff Course at the RDF Command and Staff College in Nyakinama, Musanze District.

The graduation saw 108 senior officers from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Rwanda National Police (RNP), and 19 friendly countries successfully complete the prestigious military program.

The intensive 46-week program, run jointly with the University of Rwanda, trained the senior officers in strategic studies, operational planning, joint exercises, and mission simulations to prepare them for complex leadership roles.

While every graduate received a course certificate and the Passed Staff College qualification, 55 of the 108 officers additionally graduated with a Master of Arts in Security Studies.

Brig Gen Andrew Nyamvumba, Commandant of the RDF Command and Staff College, commended the graduands for completing course.

"[Graduands] as you return to your respective defence forces, lead with integrity, think strategically, and act with humility,” Nyamvumba said.

“To our allied student officers, I want to thank you for making this college your home and for generously sharing your unique experiences, cultures, and perspectives."

According to Gen. Nyamvumba, the curriculum builds multinational military cooperation and enhances tactical execution in complex environments.

He emphasized that the program sharpens officers both intellectually and morally, providing the strategic foresight and fortitude necessary to navigate today's volatile security landscape.

University of Rwanda Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Didas Kayihura Muganga, challenged the graduates to apply the knowledge, professionalism, and networks gained during the course to their daily duties.

He urged them to leverage these tools to foster peace, stability, and accountable leadership in their respective nations.

The event drew senior government dignitaries, international security chiefs, and families of the graduates.

The 19 allied nations represented in this intake included Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Jordan, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
