Mozambique Defence Minister Visits Rwandan Troops in Cabo Delgado
Mozambique’s Defence Minister, Cristóvão Artur Chume, paid a high-level courtesy visit to the Rwanda Security Force (RSF) headquarters on Thursday, May 21, 2026 to review ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the region, according the Rwanda’s Ministry of Defence (MoD).
The visit, held in the strategic town of Mocímboa da Praia, highlights the active military partnership between the two nations in stabilizing northern Mozambique's conflict-affected Cabo Delgado Province.
Upon arrival at the RSF Headquarters, Minister Chume and his delegation were received by the Joint Task Force Commander, Brigadier General CM Mujuni, along with senior staff officers.
Brigadier General Mujuni provided a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security situation and the current status of ongoing operations across the province.
During the visit, Minister Chume expressed his appreciation to the Rwanda Security Force for its critical contribution to combating terrorism in northern Mozambique, particularly in Cabo Delgado Province.
The Minister further emphasized the Mozambican Government’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship and bilateral cooperation between Mozambique and Rwanda.
Minister Chume was accompanied by a senior military delegation, including Brigadier General Tomás Francisco João Mponha, Deputy Army Commander of the Mozambique Armed Forces (FADM), along with other senior officers.
